The Ellison School annually administers to students in grades 2 through 8 the:

Assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics
Students in grades 2 through 8 take the CTPs electronically on their Chromebooks.
Although ERB CTP offers a Grade 1 assessment, at this time The Ellison School does not test students in Grade 1.
Although ERB CTP offers assessment in Science, at this time The Ellison School does not assess any students in Science.
The ERB CTP :
Is a rigorous assessment for high achieving students in areas such as reading, listening, vocabulary, writing, and mathematics in grades 1 through 8.
Begins including verbal and quantitative reasoning skills assessment beginning in Grade 3.
Is considered a “low stakes” assessment, intended to help teachers and administrators make decisions about curriculum and classroom instruction. Students and parents should remain calm about this testing and look at it as a tool that will help Ellison improve and personalize our educational services.
Helps compare content specific, curriculum-based performance to the more conceptual knowledge base found in reasoning tests.
Assesses student growth and performance at the time of testing enabling administrators and teachers to identify strengths and weaknesses at an individual and group level
Is designed to assess what students know—not their ability to identify the probable right answer. serves as a diagnostic tool and helps yield reliable results
The Learning Standards within each Content Strand in each ERB CTP subtest:
Were developed by national advisory bodies of teachers from the relevant subject areas and grade levels
Articulate the definition and architecture of the concepts and skills measured in that Content Strand
The ERB CTP Content Strands and Learning Standards align with standards promulgated by:

Compare student performance and growth with similar groups of achievers via national, independent, suburban public, international, association, and district norms using scaled scores, stanines, and percentiles.
As soon as school staff is able to analyze student results, reports are sent home to parents.
