The Ellison School is committed to the accessibility and affordability of a quality education for all those who desire one for their children.      The Ellison School’s need-based financial aid program enables students to attend the School regardless of a family’s ability to pay full tuition.

As a result of this commitment, every student may not be charged the same tuition.  Families who apply and qualify for tuition assistance pay a tuition level that takes into consideration what they are able to afford, based on a calculation completed by the Facts Grant & Aid Assessment.

TYPES OF TUITION ASSISTANCE

  • Sibling Discounts  - A 10% discount is provided for additional children attending Ellison.

  • Financial Aid Grant - Financial aid grants are awards given to school families based upon need.  They are not a loan.   Applicants must apply to the Facts Grant & Aid Assessment Service for an evaluation of the family’s finances.  A copy of the latest tax return is required.  Facts reviews the family finances and makes a recommendation to The Ellison School Financial Aid Committee.

  • Alumni Scholarship The Ellison School will provide $1,000 Family Alumni Scholarships to Ellison School alumni who enroll their children in The Ellison School as full-time students.  The $1,000 scholarship is per family not for each child.  See Head of School for more information.

  • Veterans Scholarship - The Ellison School will provide a $1,000 scholarship to present or former members of the United States military who enroll their child(ren) in The Ellison School as a full-time student(s).  This Ellison family will receive up to $1,000 ($100/month for the total number of months the new family attends Ellison in their first school year).  The $1,000 scholarship is per family not for each child.  See Head of School for more information.

  • Referral Tuition Off-Set - The Ellison School will provide up to $500 tuition offset to current Ellison families who are responsible for a new family enrolling in The Ellison School.  Ellison families are asked to recruit, encourage, and assist full-time new students with admission to Ellison.  An Ellison family will receive up to $500 ($50/month for the total number of months the new family attends Ellison in their first school year).  The $500 tuition off-set is per family not for each child.  See Head of School for more information.

  • Payment-in Full A 5% discount is given to families that pay their tuition in full for the coming school year before August 1st.  See Head of School for more information.

FAMILY RESPONSIBILITY

  • While the cost of an independent school should not be an obstacle to applying for admission or attending that school, The Ellison School recognizes that the primary responsibility for financing an independent school education rests with the student’s family. We also believe that a family must look to all available resources before and in addition to requesting financial aid from the school.  The Ellison School does not desire a family to be refused a quality education due to finances and we will try to work with families who are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to assist Ellison in providing the best education possible to their children.

  • Financial aid covers tuition and some additional related expenses. However, it is important to note that financial aid does not cover all expenses. Books, technology fees, lunches, and fundraising fees are paid by the family. Families should remember to include the incidental fees and expenses above and beyond tuition and any financial aid award to their budgeting for the year.

  • The Business Office can provide families with a range of usual expenses incurred at each grade level.

  • The Business Office can also provide information about interest-free, monthly payment plans, which can help to offset the burden of paying a large bill in one sum.
